The fabric

Fabric: Chanderi silk-cotton
Where the fabric came from: Woven to order by a handloom cluster in Madhya Pradesh
Composition: 50% cotton, 50% mulberry silk
Weight: 85 gsm
Trims: Reclaimed mother-of-pearl buttons, thrifted in mismatched sets and graded to match
Made in: Cut, sewn and pressed in India

Finishing

Placket turned and stitched by hand, two rows, 12 stitches to the inch
Side seams flat-felled so the shirt can be worn open without fraying
Collar interlined with woven cotton, cut on the bias to keep its roll

Measurements

Deliberately oversized. Take your usual size for the intended fit, one down for a closer one.

If you are between sizes, send us your bust, waist and hip and we will tell you which to take. Where a size has sold out of the cut run, we can make it for you from what is left of the roll at the same price — the only difference is the wait.

Living with it

Hand wash cold, dry flat in shade. Press on the reverse while damp. Never wring silk-cotton.
